Valentines

As I examine my feelings about Valentine's Day I still have to admit I like this holiday. It's cheezy, commercial, and it seems it makes a bunch of self-centered people miserable, but I don't care I still like it.

Maybe it's because of the memories I associate with it. I liked making Valentines as a kid in grade's school. We'd get the big books of Valentine's cards and cut them all out and give them to the girls in class.

Maybe it's because I like seeing people happy and in love. It's just nice to see people that way.

Maybe it's because there's a lot of red around. I like the color red.

Anyway I don't have anyone special in my life right now. It doesn't make me miserable, it's just a fact of life. I'm not bitter about being "alone" on a day that celebrates love. Geez I'm much happier with a day that celebrates something positive than a day that celebrates the killing of turkeys, or the birth (or death) of some guy 2000 years ago.

So to all my friends in love, Happy Valentine's day. To all my friend without love in their hearts at this time I hope you find it in yourselves to be happy for others.

Oh yeah one year ago. To the day. I quit my old job. Wow!
